Janice Coon Smith

Janice Ann Coon Smith, 78, of Erie, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at UPMC Hamot.

She was born in Meadville, PA, the daughter of the late Carmon D. and Grace Reisinger Coon.

Mrs. Coon Smith attended Allegheny College, Behrend Center and Edinboro University, graduating Cum Laude with a BA degree in 1980, after which she completed some graduate work. She had worked as a Human Resources Secretary at Kaiser, was Dir. of the Sr. Advocate Office, a registered representative with New York Life Insurance Company and a supervisor of the "Seek" Program at E.C.V.T.S. She was also a member of the National Rifle Association. Her hobbies included music and literature.

She was preceded in death by her husband William J. Smith, in 1993 and two brothers, Robert C. Roberts, and Michael Coon.

She is survived by her sons, Jason J. Smith, William S. Smith and Peter Octavian of Erie and numerous beloved relatives

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street, (at Powell Avenue) on Monday from 11 am until the time of service there at 1 pm with Reverend Jerry Davis officiating.

Private Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
