Janet Thomas

Janet E. Owsiejko Thomas, age 64, of Millcreek, passed away December 5, 2013. She was born in Erie on November 4, 1949 daughter of the late Edward Owsiejko and Eleanor Walczak Owsiejko.

She graduated from St. Benedict Academy and worked for the Federal Bankruptcy Court and then Social Security office for many years.

Janet maintained many friendships throughout her life. She met regularly with girls from high school and the girls she worked with at Social Security and the Bankruptcy office. She was a great friend and mentor, someone you could always count on. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, aunt and great aunt who always went above and beyond for those close to her. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Janet loved to traveling, gardening and her pets. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family which includes cousins, nieces, nephews and grand nephews.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by a grand nephew Preston Sparks and three grand nieces Ella, Bella and Presley Sparks.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, John Thomas; two children Sarah Thomas of Denver CO and Nicholas Thomas of Vale CO and a sister Marilyn Baran and her husband Greg of Erie; She is further survived by a niece Brianne Sparks and her children, Logan and Lawson Sparks; a nephew Gregory E. Baran and his wife Katie and their children, Clyde and Asher Baran, grand nephew Justin Thomas and many cousins.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave., on Saturday December 14th from 12 Noon until the time of the service at 1:45pm, with Father Ted Marconi officiating.
