Janet Strubel

Janet Olivia Strubel, age 78, of Fairview, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2016 at Forestview Skilled Nursing Center.

She was a lifelong resident of Fairview born on December 10, 1937, a daughter of the late Ralph and Geraldine Bush Strubel.

Janet was a graduate in 1956 from Fairview High School and was also the Valedictorian of her class. She began her career as a cashier and worked to become the business office manager at Weislogel’s ShurFine. She also worked as the Fairview Borough Tax Collector for several years and also at Arms Donuts in Fairview. She was a lifelong member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church and a member of Fairview Firemen’s Auxiliary for over thirty years. Janet was also a member of Eastern Star.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, David Strubel, in 2014.

She is survived by her son, James S. Simitoski and his wife Tara of Fairview, PA, brother, John Strubel and his wife Judy of McKean, sister-in-law, Linda Strubel of Lake City and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East, Girard, PA 16417, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a service there on Thursday at 11 a.m.

Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the dedicated nurses and staff at Forestview Skilled Nursing Center for their loving care of Janet for the last 6 years. They were her second family.
