Jane Ann Ennis (Snedeker) Rastatter, 78, formerly of Windsor Point Assisted Living, Fuquay Varina, NC passed peacefully, Sunday, July 13, 2014. She was surrounded by her daughters and grandchildren.
She was born at Kane Hospital August 6, 1935, daughter of the late Carl and Grace Ennis. She graduated from East High School in Erie, PA. She had a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She had several Master Degrees from Edinboro University for Reading Specialist and Reading Supervisor.
She served as President of Millcreek Education Association, Committee member of Pennsylvania State Education Association, President of Delta Kappa Gamma society International for women educators. She served on numerous committees for the Keystone State Reading Association. While working for the Millcreek Township School District her various positions included: elementary school teacher, reading specialist, curriculum director, and principal. She retired after 40 years of service. After retirement she served two terms on the Millcreek Township School Board. She enjoyed serving as Chairman for the East High class reunions.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She loved to garden and cook.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Weston Michael Vandemerwe, the "love of her life.”
Survivors include two daughters, Suzanne Snedeker Patterson and her husband Mike of Apex, NC and Rebecca Snedeker (Vandemerwe) Daly of Apex, NC; and 5 grandchildren. Her brother Carlyle Ennis and his wife, Jackie of Erie; sister Karen Pabst and her husband, Michael of Harrisonburg, VA; her brother Doug Ennis and his wife, Diane of Erie; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to celebrate her life at a memorial service on Friday, July 18, 2014 at 6:00 pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1002 Powell Avenue, Erie PA 16505 <https://mail.burtonfuneralhome.com/owa/UrlBlockedError.aspx> with Reverend Kim Hirsch officiating.
