Jane E. Lohse Kressel, age 92, of Erie passed away on February 18, 2014 in Ocean Springs, MS.
Born on March 30, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Rudolph and Ivy Michael Lohse.
She was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School, Class of 1940 and was a lifelong member of Elmwood Avenue Presbyterian Church. Jane was a past high priestess of the Ladies Oriental Shrine, a member of the Daughters of the Nile and volunteered for over 35 years at the Shriner’s Hospital in Erie. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and playing cards and dominoes. As an avid NASCAR fan, her favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt, JR.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Emanuel “Manny” Kressel; a baby sister, Mary Alice Lohse; brother, Bob Lohse; and a sister, Marge Lohse.
Survivors include her son, Emanuel “Joe” and wife Barbara Kressel; daughter, Marilyn Kressel, PHD.; 3 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She is further survived by a brother, Jim Lohse.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Thursday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral services will be held there on Friday at 11 am with Pastor Andy Holmes, Elmwood Avenue Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 1645 W 8th St, Erie, PA 16505.
