Janas G. Williams Burton, age 83 of Erie, passed away Sunday April 19, 2015 at her residence.
She was born in Luray, VA on May 22, 1931, a daughter of the late Willie and Dorothy Carter Williams.
Janas attended Andrew Jackson School in Luray, VA, and was a domestic worker for several families in the Erie community retiring in 1972. She was a past member of Shiloh Baptist Church.
Janas was frisky, happy, and a jokester. She loved her family, home, and spending time in her yard.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Oscar Lee Burton, Jr., who died in 2003; her son Steve Allen Burton, sisters Barbara Reives, Ruth Ann and Mildred Jean Williams, one brother Clyde Williams, and Uncle and brother-in-law Nathan Moyer.
Survivors include her daughter Diane Burton (Melvin Woodard), her son: Donald Burton; one grandson, Andrew Hopkins of Philadelphia, and three great grandchildren. Janas has many brothers and sisters who survive her including, Frances Moyer, Willie Williams, Dora Goins, Carl Raymond Williams, Dorothy Johnson, Viola Pearson, Katherine Drew, Elder Peggy Brooks (Will), Evangelist Helen Stapp (Reverend James Stapp) and Betty Williams. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10th Street on Friday from 5 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 7 p.m. with Reverend James Stapp, officiating.
