James T. Smith

James T. Smith, a beloved father, brother, and friend, passed peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the age of 85. He was born on November 27, 1939, in Midway, Alabama.  

James graduated from Strong Vincent High School, where he distinguished himself as a talented athlete, particularly on the basketball court, helping his team reach the State Championship in his senior year. He furthered his education at Edinboro University, earning a bachelor’s degree in education, which laid the foundation for his career in data analysis within the aerospace industry at Bendix located in Greenbelt, Maryland.  

He was an avid golfer and cherished his membership in the local VFW in Silver Spring, Maryland, before returning to the Erie area. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Iralee (Tarver) Smith and his brother, Larry Smith.  

James is survived by his beloved children, Andre Smith, of Silver Spring, Maryland and daughter, Lisa (DeNeal) McLemore, of Moultrie, Georgia. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Aja McLemore, Nea McLemore, and McKenize Smith, as well as his brother, Fred Smith. 

In accordance with James's wishes, no services will be held.
