James Oakes

James “Jimmy” Oakes, age 41, of Erie Homes for Children and Adults and formerly of Lake City, PA passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021.

He was born in Erie, PA on August 14, 1980, the son of Robin Gaskey, but raised by his grandmother Marilyn Oakes of Lake City.

He attended International Barber Institute, in Erie and he loved music, car rides, housemates, family outings-especially the food.

He was preceded in death by a brother Greg Gaskey and  his grandfather Robert D. Oakes.

In addition to his mother and grandmother, he is survived by his aunt Kristen J. Michalski and her husband Fritz of Lake City; two uncles Kevin Oakes and his wife Pam of Girard and Robert Oakes and his wife Rachel of North Ridgeville, OH; a brother Robert Gaskey and a sister Stacy Gaskey, both of Morgantwon, KY; and several cousins.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street, East, Girard, PA on Wednesday, October 27^th from 11 am until the time of the service at 1pm.

Burial will be in SpringfieldCemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Erie Homes for Children and Adults, 226 East 27^th St., Erie, PA  16504.
