James Paul "Jim" Nadolny passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024, at the age of 79, at Saint Vincent Hospital.
Jim was born in Mississippi on October 17, 1945, the son of the late Clarence and Myrtle Branton Nadolny. He spent his childhood in Titusville, PA. Jim cherished his Southern roots and was known to break into the worst Southern accent you ever heard upon request. He attended The University of Pittsburgh and The University of Mississippi and held several certifications in banking and the automotive industry. Jim enjoyed a long and successful career at Hallman Chevrolet in Erie, dedicating over 30 years to the company and earning a reputation for his extensive knowledge of car maintenance, much to the chagrin of his children who were often chastised for neglecting their oil changes.
Jim loved the outdoors and found great joy in hunting, fishing, and golf. He was a Mason and a devout Catholic and had an unmatched sense of humor and a knack for storytelling. He was known for his sharp wit, his love of history, and for being a “veritable vault of useless knowledge.” He loved classic rock, even though he wasn’t the best singer and would often belt out incorrect and off-key lyrics with gusto. He loved dogs, guns, reading, grilling out, watching sports and the news, and chocolate ice cream. His favorite places to be included the woods, Florida in the winter, and anyplace he could spend time with his wife or his kids. He was a good friend and a heck of a lot of fun.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Ann (Ehret) Nadolny; his three children: Lisa Lewis (Trip), Jennifer McClure (Heath), and Matthew Nadolny (Courtney); four stepchildren: David Ehret (Debbie), Larry Ehret (Jodi), Gregg Ehret (Michelle Szymecki), and Becki Stevens (Daniel); thirteen grandchildren, Kaidyn, Avery, Nella, Matthew, Lauren, Isaac, Ashlee, Samuel, Dayna, Daniel Jr., Taylor, Morgan and Trevor; his sister Judith Taylor; sister-in-law Kathy Nadolny; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and best friend, Jerry Nadolny.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, December 27th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East, Girard. Funeral services will be held there on Saturday, December 28th at 10:00 a.m. Followed by burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Jim will be remembered for his humor, intelligence, and love of life. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
