James E. Miller, age 77 of Erie, passed away at Pleasant Ridge Manor West on Saturday, April 29, 2017.
He was born in Brooksville, MS on February 11, 1940, a son of the late John Henry and Willie Lou Harris Miller.
James attended school in Mississippi. He worked for Hayes Manufacturing, American Meter and General Electric until his retirement.
James had a 'marvelous' musical background in which he recorded and released with his father, “Big” John Henry Miller. He was an accomplished guitarist and they began their careers together in Mississippi in the 1950’s.
He was an extremely talented, supremely versatile, Jack-of-all-trades. You name it, James could honestly do it.
James was a longtime member of Cornerstone Liberty Community Church, and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings: John H., George, John W., Carrie Lee Hollis, and Anniebelle Johnson.
Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Ann P. Tate Miller; children Gloria J. Stewart of Houston, TX; Henry Lee Miller, Elizabeth Cooper (Kevin) and Ann D. Weems (Kenneth), all of Erie, James Lee Miller (Kelli), Tampa, FL; 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and a plethora of nieces, nephews and cousins.
As we extend our welcoming, Friends of the Miller family may call the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10th Street, Erie PA, 16502 on Friday from 11 am until the time of service at 1 pm with Pastor Dr. Sandra Naylor-Vactor, and Pastor Richard Woodard. Burial in Erie Cemetery.
