James P. "Jimmy" Mattix, 45, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at his home in Erie. He was born on May 16, 1971, in Erie, son of James Clarence and Beatrice Ann Newbree Mattix of Erie. A 1989 graduate of Strong Vincent High School, he attended Erie Business Center and worked for Erie Bolt Corp. for 18 years. He had also worked for PSB Industries and General Electric Corp. Jimmy enjoyed hunting, fishing and Ford muscle cars, was an avid Cleveland Browns Fan, loved dogs, and loved playing the drums.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 20 years, Noelle Mountain Mattix; a son, Cameron Mattix and companion Katie Pope of Erie; a sister, Amy Mattix and companion Tom Hannah of Erie; a granddaughter, Olivia Mattix of Erie; maternal grandmother, Flossie Paluh and husband Jim of Lake City, PA; maternal grandfather, Floyd Newbree of Celoron, NY; two nephews, Steven and Ryan Howard of Erie; mother and father-in-law, Lesley and Terry Redmond of Erie; and many aunts, uncles and cousins, including his uncle, Steve Paluh, and cousin, Tim Yankosky, both of Erie, who were like brothers to Jimmy as they were growing up.
The family will receive friends at the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle Street, Thursday, March 16, 2017, from 5 p.m. until the start of a Celebration of Life Service at 6 p.m. The Rev. Richard A. Moyer will officiate.
