James (Jim) R. Markham Sr. age 77, of Millcreek, passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at his residence.
He was born in Erie on December 14, 1944, son of the late Louis Merlyn and Twila Alverta Horn-Markham.
Jim graduated from Academy High School and went on to serve in the United States Airforce. During his time in the service, he was a member of the Airman Crew that was called to guard the perimeter of the hospital where President John F. Kennedy was taken the day of his assassination.
His career was in transportation; He was a transportation manager for many years at Firch’s/Stroehman Bakeries and retired from Watkins Motor Lines.
Jim had a great sense of humor and was an avid New York Yankees and Cleveland Browns fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family as well as enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing cards, and visiting the casino.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Larry Markham and sister, Marilyn Regnier.
He is survived by his children, James R. Markham, Jr. (Diane); Jana R. Sharrar and Jessica R. Markham; granddaughter, Bergen Sharrar; brother, Robert Markham (Patricia) and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services 3801 W. 26th Street on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Masks are required for all guests.
