James J. Lewis Sr., age 87, of Erie, PA, passed peacefully at his home on Tuesday, September 18, 2018. He was born June 14, 1931 in Erie the son of the late Alden J. and Cornelia (Kilfoil) Lewis. A kind, quiet, generous man he leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife Carla Padovani Lewis.
James was a veteran of the US Army 149th Infantry Division. He served during the Korean Conflict in the European Theatre in Berlin, Germany. Upon his return, James became interested in General Electric’s Apprentice Program, where he was accepted and grew to have a rewarding position in management, retiring in 1991.
Besides his beloved wife Carla, honoring his memory is a daughter Mary Elizabeth Ebeling and family of Richmond, VA and a son, James J. Lewis, Jr (Carolyn) of West Chester, PA. A cousin Michael Lewis, a cousin, Kathy Lewis Kenny; The families of Samuel (Elaine) Padovani and Tim (Toni) Sullivan, and a dear aunt, Lucy Colli and her family. He is also survived by many special nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There will be no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass Friday, September 21, 2018 at 11:00 AM in Christ Our Hope Catholic parish (St. Matthias) in French Creek, NY. Burial with military honors will be in St. Matthias Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements by the Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St.
