James Krystek

April 25, 2023 — September 28, 1946

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Michael Krystek, of Erie, PA, who passed away comfortably at home on April 25th, 2023.

Jim was born on September 28th, 1946, to Thaddeus and Helen Krystek in Erie, PA. Jim was recently widowed in the fall of 2022 and was married to his wife, Linda Krystek for over 43 years with whom he had one child, Renee Krystek of Chicago, IL and two children from a previous marriage, Caroline Krystek of Sterling, VA and Matthew Krystek.

In his youth, Jim was in the Navy and later employed with General Electric, working on locomotives. For the past two decades, Jim was enjoying retirement by being the neighborhood handyman. He loved shoveling snow, fixing things, working in the backyard vegetable garden, collecting scrap metal, and pet sitting. He has always loved working with his hands and his home is full of his model ships, paintings, and cross stitch projects. He was truly a unique person with a funny sense of humor, who loved reading, watching sports (being a dedicated Braves and Notre Dame fan), and bragged about his rejection of technology (only getting a cell phone within the last year).

James was predeceased by his parents, Thaddeus & Helen Krystek; his brother, Teddy Krystek; son, Matthew Krystek; and wife Linda Krystek; along with a handful of pets, including his cats, Chipper & Max. He is survived by his daughters, Renee and Caroline Krystek; his brother, Ron Krystek; his sister, Rose Dalbora; and their spouses; along with supportive brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers or food, please consider a donation to assist the family with funerary expenses. A combined Celebration of Life is planned for June 2023. For more information please visit https://everloved.com/life-of/james-krystek/
