James Gott

James L. Gott, age 80, of Erie, passed away on Monday, July 16th at St. Vincent Hospital.   He was born in Erie on February 13, 1938 the son of the late Charles and Marie Erhart Gott. 

He was a 1956 graduate from Academy High School.   Upon graduation he served in the U. S. Navy for four years as an electronics technician and the Naval Reserves for two years.  He attended several different colleges earning his certificate from the Institute of Industrial Engineers.  

Jim worked for various local companies including Copes Vulcan, Zurn, Bucyrus-Erie and retired from Fenestra as a Senior Industrial Engineer.  He was a member of St. Julia Church where he served as an usher. Jim was also a member of Elks Lodge #67 where he enjoyed the company of good friends.  Jim was a loyal Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians fan. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family especially his grandkids and his cat “Meadow”.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Carolyn, and his brother Douglas.

Jim is survived by a son, David Gott of Florida; a daughter, Tracy Ozimek and her husband Rich of Erie and two grandchildren, Taylor and Eric Ozimek.  He is further survived by his siblings Dan (Sue) Gott of CA, Jerry (Sandy) Gott of CA, Marion Wiler of Erie, Virginia Pelkowski of Erie, and Gil (Betty) of FL.
