James V. DeBello age 99, of Millcreek, passed away on Friday, December 18, 2015 at Fairview Manor.
He was born in Erie on April 20, 1916, a son of the late Carmine and Domenica DeCescare DeBello.
He serve in the United States Army during WW II and had received a Victory Medal. He worked as a maintenance foreman for the Erie Times News for over 38 years. James was a member of St. Jude for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was a very good handyman who enjoyed helping friends. Attended St. Judes Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Scalzitti DeBello, and two brothers: Nicholas and Albert DeBello; and five sisters: Lena DeBello, Rose Olszewski, Helene Penna, Angeline Raimondi, Julia Trucilla, and Louise Sawtelle.
He is survived by a son, James C. DeBello and his wife Diane; a daughter, Suzanne Childs and her husband Robert; a sister, of Erie; four grandchildren, Sean C. Kern and his wife Jessica, Shannon C. Zimmerman and her fiancé Chris Robertson, Todd C. DeBello and his wife Mary and Bradd M. DeBello and his wife Angela and seven great grandchildren: Theodore J. Zimmerman, John Zimmerman Jr., Leslie Kern, Anna, Sara Brock and Ashlyn DeBello; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26th Street on Monday from9:30am until the time of service at 10:30am with Rev. John Detisch celebrant.
Burial in Calvary Cemetery will be private.
