James Brown

James R. Brown, of Erie, age 81, died on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at his residence.

He was born in Conneaut, OH on July 19, 1932 and he was the son of the late Francis H. and Gertrude Wright Brown.

James graduated from Conneaut High School, Class of 1951 he received his Bachelor of Science degree from Gannon, Class of 1955. He served in the U.S. Army as an MP. James was the CEO of AAA for 34 years and served on various State AAA Committees; for two years he chaired the Transportation Advisory Committee. James enjoyed golf, fishing and working in his flower and vegetable gardens.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sons, James R. Brown II. and Michael Brown.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Olszewski; two sons, Frank Brown and his wife Renee of Erie and Daniel J. Brown and his wife Dena of Ohio and two daughters-in-law, Dede Brown of Erie and Sue Brown of Albion. He is further survived by fourteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 602 West 10th Street, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 until the time of service there at 8 p.m.

The family graciously requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Regional Cancer Center, 2500 West 12th Street, Erie, PA 16505.
