James A. Anderson, age 69, of Girard, died peacefully on Friday, July 25, 2014, at his home in the care of his family.
Born April 14, 1945, in Erie, he was a son of the late George and Basilee Rose Cook Anderson. Jim was a 1963 graduate of McDowell High School where he enjoyed his art and drafting classes which gave him skills he used his entire life. He also enjoyed playing the saxophone in the marching band and in the Carl Holland dance band. Jim enjoyed his manufacturing customers for over 40 years, most recently as president of Anderson Wood and Metal Works, Inc., a materials handling distributor and metal fabricator designer. He was member of Lake Erie Lodge 347, the NRA, and the Ohio Valley BSA Owners Club. He was an avid motorcycle, car and boat enthusiast as well as a gun and antiques collector.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents, Basil and Tillie Cook and his in-laws, David and Lois Miller Love.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sandra Love Anderson, a son Jason Anderson of Erie, a daughter Kylie Pellegrino and her husband Mark of Erie; two sisters: Rozanne Moreland and her husband John, Georgia Irish and her husband Robert; his first wife, Lynda Samanka of Girard; Erin Anderson; four grandchildren: Noah and Skylar Anderson and Shane and Donivan Marshall; many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend thanks to Regional Home Health and Hospice for the special care given to Jim during his illness.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East in Girard on Monday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. followed by a prayer service.
