Jacquelyn Ruff

January 6, 1949 — April 18, 2013

Jacquelyn (Jackie) L. Ruff was called to Heaven, pain free, on Thursday, April 18, 2013, from UPMC Hamot, lovingly attended by her son, Jim and his wife Corie.

Jackie was born in McKean Township, Erie County, on January 6, 1949, the youngest child of Edwin C. and Audrey R. Soety. She graduated from McDowell High School in 1967.

In June of 1969, Jackie honored her husband, James E. Ruff in marriage. Over the years, she was employed by Canteen Corporation, Erie Microfilm, and Lighting Systems of Erie. Jackie was a people person who loved sharing in family and friends activities. She was gifted in home decorating and flower gardening. She lovingly gave of herself to all who knew her. She especially enjoyed caring for, and the company of, her grandsons, Michael and Mitchell.

Despite an intense fear of water, Jackie was baptized, via full immersion, by Reverend Brian Kelly of McLane Church in Edinboro, Pa., supported by her church family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Audrey Soety and her sister, Judy Gross.

Jackie is survived by her husband Jim, her son, James A. Ruff and his wife, Corie A. (Evans) Ruff, her grandsons, Michael J. and Mitchell A. Ruff and their mother, Natalie A. Wiesen, all of Erie, Pennsylvania. She is further survived by her sister, Joyce Brucker, and her husband Richard and their family. Also, her brother, Edwin "Butch" Soety and his wife Elizabeth and their family. She leaves many extended family members and friends, especially her "little buddy", Kyle Christiansen, whom she lovingly cared for many of his years.

The family will welcome friends at the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West Tenth Street, Erie, Pa 16502 on Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to services there on Monday at 11 a.m. with Reverend Brian Kelly officiating.
