Jacqueline Saunders

Jacqueline Rose Carey Saunders, age 87, of Millcreek passed away Thursday February 28, 2013 at her residence.

Jacqueline was born in Erie on May 31, 1925 daughter of the late John E. and Pauline Elsesser Carey.

She was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School and was a homemaker caring for her family for most of her life. She also taught private music lessons and volunteered at the Lutheran Home for many years. Jacqueline was a life long member of Bethel Baptist Church and was the organist there for 50 years. She loved to garden and especially enjoyed bird watching and nature.

Along with her parents Jacqueline was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Warren, in 2012; a sister Genevieve Carey Culmer, and a brother John E. "Jack" Carey Sr.

She is survived by 3 children Cheryl Saunders; William Saunders and his wife Cynthia and Susan Saunders VanDyke and her husband Wesley; and 3 grandchildren Adam, Anna and Josie Saunders. A sister Laura "Tootie" Carey and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Services are private for the family. A memorial service will be held in the spring at a time to be announced.
