Isabelle Weber

Isabelle Victoria Weber was born May 9, 1923, in Erie, to the late John and Bessie ( Pasky) Weber. She went to meet her Savior and her heavenly family on February 26, 2017.  She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by her parents and by her siblings John, Leo, Francis, Sophie, and Amelia.  Her baby brothers Chester and Harry died as infants during the worldwide flu epidemic of 1917.

Known as Viki, or just plain Vic, to her friends and family, she lovingly taught her family very early on not to call her “Aunt Viki,” since she found this to be too formal and old sounding.  She lived for the Erie summers, and her second home was the Presque Isle Peninsula. Her family fondly remembers her as always being blond haired, tanned and beautiful. Viki had no children of her own so she “adopted” her brother Leo’s six children, and then their children, always remembering each of their birthdays and always making everyone’s Christmas extra special.

Viki loved to drive. Her first car was a blue 1947 Ford 2-door sedan.  Her next car was a 1960’s era Corvair, blue of course, and when she wore that out, she bought a blue 1970 Ford Pinto which she drove until the Lord persuaded her it was time to hang up the keys.  She loved to shop for bargains, relished dining out, delighted in attending performances at the Warner Theater and Erie Playhouse, and enjoyed sharing stories of her traveling days.  She also cherished fresh flowers, and did everything possible to make their beauty last.  

Her entire working life was spent as Office Manager for the E. W. Miller Real Estate Company in the Masonic Building, where she was known to all there as “Miss Weber.”  When the company closed its doors, Viki retired and continued to care for her mother and sisters.  She always kept up with current events and was always interested in talking about “the working world.”

Viki was a devout Catholic and, for as long as her health permitted, she attended daily Mass at either St. Patrick’s Church or at St. Peter’s Cathedral.  When she could not attend Mass in person she would just as devoutly participate in daily Mass by watching on television or by listening to the radio.  Her devotion to Christ led her to include in her daily prayers everyone she knew and loved.

Isabelle Victoria “Vic” Weber will be greatly missed by all who knew her, and especially by her family.

There will be no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 10:00 AM in St. Peter Cathedral. Burial will be in St. Gregory Cemetery, North East. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peter Cathedral, 230 West 10th St., Erie, PA 16501. Arrangements  by the John J. Quinn  Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St.
