Irmgard Gage

Irmgard Gage of Erie, PA. Born in Berlin, Germany, on April 16, 1936, a daughter of the late Robert Stolpe and Irmgard Behling Stolpe.

She attended business school in Germany, working as a private secretary and in retail at Baumgarten in Germany, Fashion Bug, Wrights and Dahlkemper in Erie. She was also a cook at Western Reserve. 

She was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church, serving as a deacon. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, gardening and flowers, cooking, art, reading as well as serving others. Irmgard was an exceptional seamstress and even made wedding dresses at one time.

She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Thomas Gage of Erie; one son, Tyrone Gage (wife Dr. Tina) of Russell, PA; two daughters, Dr. Petra Nutz (husband Dr. Joseph) of Durham, NC and Monic Collins (husband Danny Flaugh) of Erie, PA; a brother, Heiko Stolpe (wife Rosewitha) of Berlin, Germany; four grandchildren, Dr. Steven Nutz (wife Dr. Alanna) of Durham, NC, Jessie Nutz of Portland, OR, Eric Nutz of Columbia, SC and Heidi Gevirtz (husband Ryan) of Erie, PA; two great grandchildren, Nate and Nellie Nutz of Durham, NC; her beloved cat, Lady.

A celebration of life will be announced for Irmgard Gage later to be held at New Hope Presbyterian Church, 5440 Washington Ave, Erie PA 16509. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to New Hope Presbyterian Church or charity of one’s choice.
