Irene Stover

Irene I. Stover, age 95, of Millcreek, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at St. Vincent Medical Center.

She was born in Erie, on October 20, 1920, the daughter of the late John & Mary Gabriel Zielinski.

Irene was a 1939 graduate of East High School and was employed at the General Electric Co, for 13 years as a typist in the Engineering Department.

She was a founding member of Our Lady of Peace Church and enjoyed golfing, bowling and was active in volunteer work. Irene (and her children) were very proud that with her daughter’s help she still lived independently in her home that she has lived in for over 50 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Charles; and two sisters, Cecelia Loesch and Helen Clinger Dombrowski.

Irene is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Stover of Erie, a son, Dennis Stover and his wife Andrea of Vestal, N.Y., two granddaughters, Jennifer Stover of Vestal, NY and Julie Springer and her husband, Keith of Missouri and a great-granddaughter, Scarlet Springer.

Friends may call upon the family at the Burton West Lake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street,(at Powell Ave.) on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to the service there on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Trinity Cemetery.
