Irene M. Robey, age 94, of Millcreek, passed away Wednesday November 2, 2016 at Fairview Manor.
She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 23, 1922, a daughter of the late William and Mary Mueller Hoesley.
Irene graduated from John Hay High School in Cleveland and attended Fenn College in Cleveland. She enjoyed a career in financial and banking services.
She was a founding member of Crossroads Community Baptist Church. She was an avid reader and loved music.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Robey; a daughter, Sharon Mattson and her sister, Elsa Hoesley Thomas.
Irene is survived by her daughter, Donna Galvin and her husband Tom of Conneaut, OH and her son, Dr. James E. Robey and his wife, Claudette of Kalamazoo, MI; three sisters in law, Mary (Robey) Fittro, Mary Poe Robey and Nancy Lou Robey of Clarksburg, West Virginia; nine grandchildren: Thomas Galvin and his wife Tricia, Lori Johnson and her husband Matt, Lauren Rantucci and her husband Jordan, Ethan Robey, Douglas Mattson, April VonVolkenburg and her husband Dana, Mary Carol Galvin, Courtney Shaffer and her husband Trent; Clarissa Taylor and her husband, Chad; and six great grandchildren: Drew Galvin, Joey Galvin, Bay Johnson, Olivia Robey, Tevin Shaffer, and Tristen Shaffer. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. East, Girard, PA on Friday from 4-7 p.m. and are invited to attend a funeral service there on Saturday at 10 a.m. with Pastor David White of Cross Roads Community Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
