Irene H. Mazzocco

Irene H. (Zmijewski) Mazzocco, age 85, of Erie passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024 at UPMC Hamot Hospital. She was born on October 23, 1938, a daughter of the late Witold and Anna (Zalewska) Zmijewski. 

Irene was very artistic, she studied with Joseph Plavcan while attending Erie Technical High School. She loved and never missed any family gathering, enjoyed playing cards, and going to the casino. Her camp was her go-to getaway, she loved going there. Irene and her husband Ron bought this camp in 1984. 

Irene loved all her boys, but she was not afraid to say she had a “favorite”, that would be Ronnie, they were best friends. She never missed any of their baseball games. 

She retired from City Hall and was a lifetime member of the Polish Falcons 610 and received the Legion Award. 

Irene is preceded in death by her husband Ronald Mazzocco and infant son Ronald Elliot. She is further preceded by her sisters, Genevieve Zmijewski, Evelyn Gostomski, Carol Narducci, by her brothers, Leo, Ray, and Harry Zmijewski. 

Irene is survived by her sons, Ronald, Randy, Ricci, and Ryan Mazzocco. She is further survived by her loving grandchildren, Abigail Mazzocco, Anthony and Sophia Mazzocco. Irene is survived by her sisters, Christine Beason, Rose Ann (Lenny) Szymanski, Kathy Weber, and Mari Krugger.

Irene will be loved and missed by all who knew her, her suffering is over. 

Friends are invited to call on the family Wednesday, February 14, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Service Inc. Wintergreen 2532 Norcross Road, Erie. Burial will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
