Irene Izbicki

Irene L. Izbicki, age 83, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2014 to be with the Lord, with her beloved husband by her side.

Irene was born on January 12, 1931, daughter of the late Stanley and Marie Kowalski Jankowski.

Irene married her high school sweetheart, Richard Izbicki, and they were happily married for 65 years.

Irene and Richard enjoyed 17 wonderful years of retirement in Spring Hill, Florida before returning back to Erie in 2005 to be close to her daughters. She loved her girls!

She was president of the Holy Rosary Altar Society and loved cooking and entertaining.

Irene and Richard enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. with her sister Fran and brother-in-law, Don.

Irene is survived by her devoted, loving husband, Richard J. Izbicki, her two daughters, Joyce Izbicki and Cynthia Baron (Gary) of Millcreek, a sister Fran McDade (Donald), a brother Stanley Jankowski and sister-in-law Maryann Jankowski; her nieces and nephews, several friends, and her very best friend Dorothy Slurkanich, all of whom will miss her deeply.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Carl Jankowski (Juanita), Leonard Jankowski, and a sister Josephine Przybycyn (John), and mother-in-law Phyllis Elder and husband, Ted, sisters-in-law Lucille Lubak and her husband Norb, and Marilyn Jankowski.

Many thanks go out to Lakeland Hospice, especially Jennifer and all of Irene’s caregivers at Pleasant Ridge Manor.

Friends may call at St. Johns Catholic Church in Girard, 101 Olin Avenue, on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the memorial mass at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. William C. Miller presiding.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Irene’s memory to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Northwestern PA, 5031 West Ridge Road, Erie PA 16506, or the Benedictine Sisters of Erie, 6101 East Lake Road, Erie PA 16511.
