Irene Evans

February 15, 1932 — December 22, 2020

Irene “Tissie” Evans finished well after 88 years upon the earth.  She was born in Cambridge Springs, and was one of the 13 children of Lucille and Simon Holowach.  She was married to Arthur Evans, who proceeded her in death.  He was the owner of Art’s Grocery and Bakery for 39 years before his son took over the business.  Irene was a member of Grace Baptist Church for over 45 years and taught and attended Sunday School, up until the last few years.

When she was 27 years old, Irene realized that she could never be good enough to please God. But, she hoped that maybe her son could be saved.  When she heard the Good News of Jesus Christ at Faith Baptist Church, she believed in her heart and confessed with her mouth, and was saved!  God provides FORGIVENESS by GRACE through FAITH, not of ourselves, but as a gift freely given to all!   With her faith that came from hearing the word of God, she shared this Good News with her family and friends.  Many were saved and set free from the sin that bound them to death.  She knew that she would never be good enough, but she has a High Priest in Jesus who paid the price and redeemed her!  From that point on, she lived for eternity!  Now, she has finally reached the finish line.  And she finished well!

She is survived by her son, Gordon, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, her sister, Pauline, and many nieces and nephews.  To all who were blessed to know her, please remember her beautiful smile and infectious laugh.
