Ila Carr

Ila “Mary” DeBoe Carr, 86, of Erie, Pennsylvania, went home to be with the lord on November 2, 2022. She was born December 23, 1935, in Columbus, KY, to the late Lewis DeBoe Sr. and Virgie Mae Hines DeBoe.  

She attended Riverview high school in Hickman, KY where she graduated and received her high school diploma. She later moved to Erie, Pennsylvania where she worked for UPMC Hamot Hospital in the hospitality department, later moving into credits and account receivable for thirty plus years. She was a devoted wife and mother and was extremely passionate about her family and friends, whom she enjoyed spending time with. In addition, she enjoyed traveling, cooking, listening to music and dancing. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in the death by her four sisters, Helen Kenner, Rosie Nell Harper, Barbara Ann DeBoe Tate, and Lena DeBoe Martin; Five brothers Lewis DeBoe Jr., Ellis “Pete” DeBoe, Virgil Lee DeBoe, George Wendell DeBoe, James Carnell DeBoe, and one great granddaughter Jaurnee Carson.   

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband Richard Carr of 56 years; Her devoted Daughter Donna Carson (James Sr); Son Richard Salter both of Erie. Eight Grandchildren Jasen (Eboni) Carson Sr., Jamal Carson Sr. (Amikka Bowers), James Carson Jr. (Morgan Gilbert), Donnisha Carson, Reshia Carson, and Nicole Keys (Jawaun), all of Erie. Eighteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; two sisters Virginia “Sue” Hansbrew and Eleanor “Gail” Deboe both of Erie. A special niece and nephew Michael and Tausha Kenner whom she raised; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends who will all miss her dearly.  

Friends are invited to call on the family Tuesday, November 8, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 Noon, at Abundant Life Ministries 806 Parade St, Erie, PA 16503. The service will be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/burtonquinnscott.com. Burial will follow in Erie Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Service Inc. Downtown, 602 West 10^th Street, Erie.
