Hudstain Johnson

Hudstain Johnson, loving mother and grandmother, left this world March 4, 2022, surrounded by her family. Hudstain was born January 16, 1936, in Canton, MS, to the late David and Tempia Banks-Winfield. The family was grateful to celebrate her 86^th birthday this past January together as one.

Hudstain was a resident of Erie for over 60 years. She devoted her life to her family and God. Hudstain was a faithful member and Mother of the Greater Calvary Full Gospel Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Jesse Gavin. Mother Johnson loved to serve on the kitchen ministry. Our mother enjoyed cooking, dressing stylishly, spending time with her family and watching her game shows. Not only did our mother devote her time to our family, but she also blessed many others with her love.

Hudstain will be dearly missed by all her family and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents; former husband, Walter Johnson; son, Walter Johnson Jr; daughter in law, Lisa Johnson; son in law, Richard Williams; and her seven brothers and six sisters.

She leaves to mourn her memories four sons, James, Joseph, Steven, Darnell (Nettie) Johnson and four daughters, Alease Cooley, Theresa Johnson, Annette Johnson-Williams, and Victoria Johnson, all of Erie; twenty-two grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and extended family.

The family would like to thank the Staff of UPMC Hamot Hospice for the loving care provided to our matriarch. Friends may visit with family at Greater Calvary Full Gospel Baptist Church at 2624 German St, Erie Pa 16503 on Thursday March 10, 2022, from 9:00 until 11:00 A.M., where a home going celebration will immediately follow. Professional services are entrusted to Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc Downtown, 602 W 10^th St. Erie, PA 16502. Per family request, please follow current COVID-19 guidelines and wear a mask. Burial will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
