Hudson Chisholm

April 9, 1918 — February 9, 2015

Hudson H. Chisholm, “Hud”, 97, a lifelong resident of McKean, PA, died on February 9, 2015.  Loving and lovable, he was born in 1918 in Olean, NY, the son of the late John Archibald and Lennie Bingham Chisholm.

He became an entrepreneur and “gentleman farmer”.  In the 50’s he drove - then owned - the school buses for the McKean School District.  He built a senior living mobile home park in the 60’s. He had also been employed at Erie Strayer Company for 15 years, then worked as General Manager for Sanner Office Supply until he retired.

Throughout the years, he enjoyed planting and harvesting his fields on Ford tractors ‘after work’.  “Hud” was an avid bowler, golfer, traveler, bird watcher, and card player as well as a poet and delightful story teller.  His small book of memoirs was published in 2014.

He is survived by the love of his life, Martha Neuburger Chisholm, to whom he was married for 75 and ¾ years.  Their four children include: son Gregory Chisholm (Sandie) of Tucson, AZ; daughters Penny Schneider (Joe) of Goodyear, AZ;  Maia Joan Chisholm of Fairview, PA;  Debi Brown (Bob) of Branchville, PA.  Hud and Marty have 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Robert Chisholm, Winifred Chisholm Green, and Raymond Chisholm.

Arrangements entrusted to Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 W. 10th Street, Erie, PA.  A celebration of his life will be announced at a future date.  Memorials may be made to The Second Harvest Food Bank of Erie, 1507 Grimm Dr., Erie PA  16501.  Send condolences at www.Burtonfuneralhome.com.
