Howard Moomy

Howard H. Moomy, age 99, passed away on June 8, 2015 in Hendersonville, TN. Howard resided at Park Place Retirement Center for the past 5 years, until his passing.

He was born in Erie January 28, 1916, the son of the late Harry E. And Florence Esser Moomy.

A graduate of Academy High School in 1934, the General Electric Apprentice Program, and the University of Pittsburgh in 1942, he was a Mechanical Engineer with Erie General Electric from 1936 to 1944, then Erie Resistor from 1944 to 1952. He worked for Hammermill Paper Company from 1952 to 1979 when he retired.

He was a member of the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Paul, Keystone Lodge #455 F. & A.M. and was a Past Master of that lodge. He was also a member of the Keystone Rambler Trailer Club and the Zukor Club.

Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Frances A. Moomy and sisters, Mrs. Josephine Dodsworth and Mrs. Betty Schubarga.

Survivors include a son, David H. Moomy (Barbara) of Hendersonville, TN , a daughter , Susan Halter (William) of Kent, OH. Four grandchildren also survive: Andrew Moomy, Michael Halter, Kristin Halter Becknell, and Sara Moomy Meador. He is also survived by four great grandchildren: Emerson Meador, Carly Meador, Douglas Moomy, and Jovie Moomy.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home on Friday June 12th from 4-7 p.m. and are invited to attend a serve there on Saturday, June 13 th at 2 p.m. with The Very Reverend John P. Downey of the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Paul officiating.
