Howard Hudson

March 24, 1931 — July 15, 2016

Dr. Howard L. Hudson age 85, of Erie, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2016 at UPMC Hamot.

He was born in Erie on March 24, 1931 a son of the late Howard L. Hudson, Sr. and Mary Jane Schilling Hudson

He graduated from Academy High School and Penn State University. He then received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He served his residency in Radiology at Washington University Hospital in St. Louis.

Howard served in the United States Army as a Flight Surgeon and Captain.

He was a founding partner in the Radiology Associates of Erie, and also worked with the Shriners Hospital of Erie and was with Hamot Hospital for over 30 years, receiving a Distinguished Physicians Award in 2014.

Howard was a member of Luther Memorial Church, the Erie Mannerchor Club, Kahkwa Club, the Aviation Club, and University Club. He enjoyed golfing, traveling the world, skiing, and playing bridge. He was an avid Penn State supporter and fan of the grandchildren’s sports.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Prizinsky Hudson in 2014.

He is survived by his children, Elizabeth (Keith) Bille’ of Sugarland, TX, Leslie (Carl) Finkbeiner of Frederick, MD, and David (Laurie) Hudson of Fairview; seven grandchildren: Emily, Katie, and Amanda Finkbeiner, Daniel and Suzanne Carbone, Christopher and Taylor Hudson; a brother in law, David Prizinsky and his wife Judy of Cleveland, OH and a niece, nephew, and cousins.

Friends are invited to call on the family on at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th St. (at Powell Ave.) on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Monday from 11:00 until the time of service at 12 Noon. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
