Howard C. Glazier, age 93, of Millcreek, passed away Thursday February 19, 2015 at St. Vincent Health Center.
He was born in Erie on January 1, 1922 son of the late Charles E. and Edith G. Strachan Glazier.
Howard was a 1940 graduate of Strong Vincent High School and then served in the Army Air Corp. in the European Theatre during WW II. He started his working career during high school in his grandfather’s grocery store and retired as a Zoning Officer from the Millcreek Township Engineering Department. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Buick Club of America. He was an active member of the West Ridge Fire Department for 28 years and an Honorary Lifetime Member. He was also a life member of the Lawrence Lodge #708 F.&A.M. and the Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Erie. Howard was an avid hunter and loved spending time at his hunting camp in Titusville with his family and friends. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife and family and driving “Lizzy”, his 1958 Buick Roadmaster.
In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Arlene Way Glazier in 2011, and his sister, Margaret E. Tarr.
He is survived by a daughter, Sharen Niebauer and her husband Gerard of Erie; a son, James H. Glazier and his wife Janice of Waterford, PA; six grandchildren, Kristin Woodring of Wesleyville, Amy Varner of Fairview, Susanne McCullough of Virginia Beach, VA, Gregory Glazier of Waterford, and Julie Glazier Durst and Allison Glazier Lokahi, both of Erie; and 12 great-grandchildren, Steven, Caitlin and Gerard Jewell, Ashleigh and Emily Varner, Brooke and Andrew McCullough, Jacquie Woodring ,Jesse and Ryan Glazier, Antonio Maggio and Jackson Lokahi. He is futher survived by two great-great granddaughters, Gabby and Marlene.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street, (at Powell Ave.) on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm and Monday from 10 until the time of the service there at 11am.
Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Howard’s family would like to thank the staff at Niagara Village, Sarah Reed and Westlake Woods for their loving care and compassion during his time spent there.
