It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Howard E. Dobmeier, a cherished father, esteemed business owner, and beloved member of the Erie community. He passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at the age of 87, at Edinboro Manor surrounded by his children.

Howard was born on February 20, 1938, in Erie, to the late Joseph and Helen (Brucher) Dobmeier.

Raised in Erie, Howard graduated from Cathedral Preparatory School and pursued further education at Gannon University before serving in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree from the New York Institute of Photography, becoming a Certified Professional Photographer, owner of Howard's Photography, yearbook photographer for Cathedral Prep for over 30 years and was inducted into the Prep Hall of Fame.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Howard was an avid fisherman and boater, a member of the Masonic Lodge, served as the Past Master of Lawrence Lodge #708, Most Excellent Grand High Priest of the Grand Holy Royal Arch Chapter of Pennsylvania, member of Grand Commandry of The Knights Templar of Pennsylvania, Scottish Rite and many other Masonic organizations.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Susanne Schmitt Dobmeier, son, Howard E. Dobmeier Jr. and brother, Gerard J. Dobmeier. 

Howard leaves behind to cherish him in memory, his daughters: Linda J. Lauria (Frank) and Sharon L. Wright (David); sons: Michael D. Dobmeier (Stacy) and Brian J. Dobmeier (Tracy); ten grandchildren: Frank, Joseph and James Lauria, Elsa, Dillon and Jordan Wright, Angelina, Kalli, Ava and Sara Dobmeier; and seven great grandchildren: Noah, Jackson, Francesca, Baker, Lorelai, Aoife and Theo. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends are invited to call at the Burton Quinn-Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. Downtown, 602 W 10th St., on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Peter Cathedral, 230 W 10th St. Burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery with Full Military Honors rendered by the Wesleyville American Legion Post 571.
