Howard "Buzz" Cross

Howard "Buzz" Cross, age 92, passed away at Sarah A. Reed Retirement Center on Friday, June 24, 2016.
Born in Connersville, IN, son of the late Howard E. and Florence Adams Cross, he attended Indiana University and was a veteran of WWII having served with the U.S. Navy. He moved to Erie in 1963 and worked for School Pictures, Inc., and later opened Buzz n' B's Aquarium and Pet Shop in 1974 until his retirement in 1988. Buzz was an avid golfer and bowler belonging to the Siebenbuerger Club leagues and also enjoyed fishing, gardening and playing Euchre.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Beatrice Ellen Keating Cross in 2009; two daughters, Shelia Cross and Colleen Marie Gressley; a brother, Eugene F. Cross; and a sister, Thelma M. Reavis.
Survivors include his children, Carol (Rick) Koehler of Cleveland, OH, Tom (Shari) Cross of Erie, Mike (Barb) Cross of Erie, John (Amy) Cross of Jamestown, NY and Joe Cross of Miami, FL; a son-in-law, Jerome Gressley of Kennerdale, PA; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Buzz's family would like to thank the staff at Sarah A. Reed for their wonderful and loving care of their Dad.
A private graveside service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family with Msgr. Henry Kriegel officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sarah A. Reed Employee Christmas Fund, 227 W. 22nd Street, Erie, PA 16502. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle Street.
