Helene Brenda Ackerman age 77, of Erie, passed away suddenly on Friday, November 1, 2024. She was born in Erie on May 31, 1947, a daughter of the late Thomas and Helen Sullivan.
After graduating High School, Brenda went on to receive her teaching degree from Villa Maria College. She taught the deaf and blind at JoAnna Connell School. After having children of her own, she dedicated her life to family. Brenda spent many hours with her husband golfing, boating, fine dining and enjoying long drives. She especially loved spending time with her family, particularly all her grandchildren. Brenda had many interests. She spent time golfing, walking the beach, collecting shells, traveling, and trying out new recipes in the kitchen. Brenda had an extensive collection of elephants, starting off as a joke, this became her family’s favorite gift to her. These elephant gifts were present throughout her home by the hundreds. She was friends with many and often considered “a best friend.” She will be missed by many. Brenda was a devout Catholic. She enjoyed starting every morning in the 2nd row pew of Saint Julia church with her husband Donald at her side.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Mohr.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Donald Ackerman; three children, Brent (Lensey) Ackerman, Donnelle (David) Super and Sean Ackerman; five grandchildren, Lauren (Josh) Nies, Anastasia Super, Tyler Super, Vivian Ackerman and Maggey Ackerman; she had the blessings’ of a great-granddaughter, Ava, and a great-grandson, Mason. She is also survived by her sister, Marlene Jones; a brother, Thomas (Charlene) Sullivan; three nieces, Marlene Wilson, Kathleen”Katii” Miller, Claudette Miller and a sister-in-law, Peggy Hanes.
Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Julia Church 638 Roslyn Ave, Erie, Pa 16505 on Friday, at 10:00 a.m.
Arrangements are under the care of the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge 3801 W. 26th Street, Erie, PA 16506.
