Helen Harriett Tucker Silata age 93, of Fairview, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2017 at LECOM Senior Living.
She was born in Erie, on August 19, 1924 a daughter of the late Wilbur S. and Isabel A. Howard Tucker.
She was a graduate of Academy High School and Erie Business School. Helen had worked in the payroll office of GE in Erie, and was a homemaker most of her life.
She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church for many years, the Tri Boro Center, and in her early years was active with the PTA and the Garden Club. She loved music and playing the organ, gardening, cooking and canning. Helen was passionate about learning her whole life long. She also enjoyed her fitness at the YMCA many years ago and LECOM in more recent years. She was a dedicated wife and mother and grandma.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Walter Silata; a son David A. Silata; a brother John Howard Tucker and his wife Lydia; a son in law Raymond Gorton Sr.; and other in-laws.
She is survived by two daughters, Jean Pepicello and her companion Thomas Scalise, and Linda Gorton; a son, Daniel L. Silata; five granchildren, April, Felicia, Kaylee, Raymond Jr., and Walter Gorton; daughter-in-law, Geraldine Gorton and her children, Nickolas and his wife Lavanna, and their children Nyrionna and Niare Gorton; Tryleshia Holmes and her children Donte Harden and Aaron Williams; and a few nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. Girard, on Friday, Dec. 29th from 3 to 6pm and are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday Dec. 30th at 11am at the Fairview United Methodist Church, 4601 Avonia Road. Fairview, with Rev. Jack Tickle officiating.
Burial will be at a later date in the Springboro Cemetery.
