Helen I. Schlosser Nelson, 97, formerly of Plum Street, died on Thursday, February 11, 2016, at Sarah Reed Retirement Center. She was born on June 2, 1918, in Erie, daughter of the late Clarence J. and Olive Terrill Schlosser. A lifelong resident of Erie, Mrs. Nelson was a 1936 graduate of Academy High School and also graduated from Erie Business College. She worked as a secretary for United - Atkinson for several years.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Francis L. Nelson, in 2003; a daughter, Janet Davis; and two brothers, Norman and Paul Schlosser.
Survivors include a son, Bud Eric Nelson and wife Susan of Stone Mountain, GA; son-in-law, Donald Davis of Worthington, OH; three grandchildren, Rachel Bohs and husband James of Northfield, NJ, Bethany Kovick and husband John of Delaware, OH, and Matthew Nelson of Daytona Beach, FL; three great-grandchildren, Vera Kovick, Lauren Bohs, and Nolan Bohs, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle Street, Saturday, February 20, 2016, from 11 a.m. until the time of service there at 12:00 Noon. Pastor Dave Snyder of First Alliance Church will officiate. Burial will be at Erie County Memorial Gardens. As Helen had a huge place in her heart and life for missionaries, memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to The Great Commission Fund, c/o First Alliance Church, 2939 Zimmerly Road, Erie, PA 16506.
