Helen Nelson

Helen Elizabeth Barnhart Nelson age 77, of Erie, passed away quietly at Elmwood Gardens in Erie on Friday, October 28, 2016. She was born in Cumberland, OH on January 16, 1939 a daughter of the late Clifford and Orpha Elizabeth Knox Barnhart. Helen was an employee at the Salvation Army Store in Erie for many years. She enjoyed Native American Indian collectables and was an avid Steelers fan. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Beth Barnhart and a niece, Lisa Barnhart Peat. She is survived by two children; Diane Hall (Michael) of Albion, PA and Traci Kendrick of Charlotte, NC. On Friday October 28, 2016, I (Amanda) granddaughter of Helen watched my grandmother slip away. Don’t be sad for me, I am sad for my mom (Diane) daughter of Helen Nelson. She gave me the best mom in the world! Private arrangements were under the care of Burton Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 602 West 10th Street, Erie, PA 16502.
