Helen A. (Przewrocki) Marthaler, age 99, passed away peacefully to her Heavenly Reward on Friday, October 22, 2021. She was born June 14, 1922 in Erie the daughter of the late Andrew and Josephine Przewrocki. She was the last surviving member of a family of 13 children.
She attended Strong Vincent High School class of 1940. Helen then met a handsome soldier Victor Marthaler and traveled by train to Miami, Florida where they were married on April 16, 1945 in Gesu Catholic Church. They remained married until Victor’s death in 2010.
After the war, they returned to Erie and started a family of five children. She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where all her children attended school. For many years Helen was employed by Sears and eventually moved to Arthur F. Schultz until retirement. Helen was a dedicated mother and especially loved her role of grandma to 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She loved to crochet, play bingo, and spending the cold winter months in Florida with her family. She was also an avid Cleveland Indians fan.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Victor Marthaler, a son Victor (Buddy) Marthaler, Jr., and her 12 siblings.
Helen is survived by her children; Mary Anne Schroeck- Mikula (Jim); John Marthaler (Teri), Patty Keim, and Nancy Sparks (Chuck). She is the grandmother of Corky, Michael and Jeff Schroeck of Cincinnati, OH; Karen Reilly (John) of Avon, OH; Rebecca Lindner (Brian) of Mason, OH; Jennifer Pedigo (Adam) of Cincinnati, OH, Eric (Carol) and Michael Marthaler of Erie; Chaz Sparks of Erie; Beth Domino of Tauranga, New Zealand; and Corey Johnson of Miami, FL.
She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Helen’s family would like to Thank the staff of the Regency at South Shore where she had lived for many years along with the staffs of LECOM Senior Living Center and VNA Hospice for the wonderful care provided to their mother.
Friends are invited to call at the Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St. on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 from 3:00 PM until 5:30 PM at which time Funeral Services will be held. Private burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
