Helen Marschka

Helen B. Marschka, age 88, of Erie, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Elmwood Gardens following a brief illness.

She was born in Homer City, PA, daughter of the late Benton J. and Olive M. Weiss Bash. Helen graduated from Conneaut Lake High School and worked at American Meter. After her retirement she stocked greeting cards at many local retail stores. She also volunteered teaching Braille.

Helen was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed bowling and she loved to travel with her husband Richard.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Marschka.

Helen is survived by her caretaker and friend for many years Jose Polanco and his wife Tamara and their family and her caretaker Christine Copple. She is also survived by several cousins including Nancy Shaffer and Clark Winans.

Friends are invited to attend a service in the Chapel at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave.) on Tuesday September 22 at 6:00 pm . Burial will be private in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
