Helen Kuebler-Eastman

October 17, 1922 — November 7, 2014

Helen “Robin” Baldwin Riblet Hurley Kuebler Eastman, age 92, formerly of South Shore Drive, Erie passed away on Friday, November 7, 2014 at Sunrise Senior Living of Presque Isle Bay.

She was born in Erie the daughter of the late Harry G. and Ida Lou Baldwin Riblet.

Robin was a member of the first class of the Erie Day School, founded in 1929. She was a graduate of Mercyhurst Seminary in 1941, Connecticut College for Women in 1946, and received a masters at the Teaching College of Columbia in 1948. Robin hosted the first live woman’s television show on WICU titled Housewife’s Matinee in the early 1950’s.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Erie Club; a 75 year member of the Kahkwa Club, and a past member of the Erie Yacht Club, PEO Sisterhood, and the Delta Sigma Sorority. She served on the board of the Sarah A. Reed Children Center for over 12 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by he first husband James R. Hurley,

her second husband Thomas C. Kuebler, her third husband Samuel Ewer Eastman, her brother Henry James Riblet and her sister Francis Riblet Openlander.

She is survived by three sons: James R. Hurley II and his wife Lois of Florham Park, NJ; Christian Riblet Hurley of Columbia, MD; Scott Baldwin Hurley and his wife Ruth of Charleston, SC; and a daughter Elizabeth “Betsy” Hurley Deimel of Erie; 7 grandchildren, 14 step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 3 nephews.

Friends are invited to attend services at the First United Methodist Church 707 Sassafras St, Erie, PA, on Saturday November 15th at 11 a.m. Burial in Erie Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Scholarship Fund of the Erie Day School 1372 West 6th St. Erie, PA 16505.
