Helen Ely

Helen L. Kirkpatrick Ely, age 88, of Wesleyville, PA, died on Wednesday April 22, 2015 at UPMC Hamot. She was born in Knox, PA on June 26, 1926, the daughter of the late John and Geraldine (Yeany) Kirkpatrick.

She graduated from Clarion Limestone High School, attended Franklin Business College and worked in the administrative and accounting offices at The Polk Institute.

Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, sewing, and jigsaw puzzles.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Norman Ely; and three brothers: Arthur Kirkpatrick, Gerald Kirkpatrick and Robert Kirkpatrick.

Helen is survived by three daughters: Evonne Duma and her husband John of Harborcreek, PA, Kathleen Ely of Harborcreek, PA, and Patricia Hayes and her husband Les of Fairview, PA; a son, N. Thomas Ely and his wife Andrea of Erie; four grandsons: Robert Duma and his wife Cathy, Patrick Ely, Joshua Ely, and Ryan Hayes and his wife Trina; one granddaughter Kelly Hayes; two sisters: Lois Coffman of Pittsburgh, PA and Jean Aaron of Shippenville, PA; one brother, Dale Kirkpatrick of Strattanville, PA; three great-grandchildren: Eric & Kayla Duma and Joshua Ely, Jr.; two sisters-in-law: Mary Kirkpatrick of Knox, PA and Ora Mae Ely of Topton, PA and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Burton Wintergreen Funeral Home at 2532 Norcross Road, Erie, 16510 on Saturday April 25th from10am until the time of services at 1pm with the Reverend Rick Cepris, of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
