     Helen B. Anderson of Erie passed away peacefully onto her eternal reward on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 97 years of age.  She was born to Bert and Matilda Johnson in Ashtabula, OH on October 28, 1915.  After graduating Ashtabula Harbor High School, she graduated from Columbus Business School.

     Moving to Erie, she married Carl E. Anderson, her husband of 52 years, until his death in 1991.  She was also preceded in death by her sister Francis Johnson, a granddaughter Christina Anderson, and great-granddaughter Faith Anderson.   

     Helen is survived by her daughter Roberta Skopow (Walter) and her son Robert Anderson (Linda).  She has seven grandchildren: Walter Skopow III (Koreen), Molly Heil, Paula Fetzer, Jennifer Wagner, Michael Anderson (Cheryl), Julie Yartz (Kurt), John C. Anderson.  Also surviving are 17 great-grandchildren: Jeffrey and Heather Skopow, Matthew and Christopher Heil, Ryan and Katie Wagner, Sara and Shane Fetzer, Alyssa, Cara and Justin Anderson, R.J. (Robert), Lindsay, Cody and Logan Anderson, Katherine and Jack Yartz. 

     Helen worked in many venues and capacities all of her adult life, many of them at Conrail Credit Union in Erie.  She was a life-long member of Bethany Lutheran/Luther Memorial Church and SVEA Lodge, No. 296, VASA Order of America.  She worked to her greatest and highest capacity as wife, mother, grandma, and great-grandma as well as in extended relationships with other family members and friends.  She lived a long and exemplary life as a remarkable Christian woman, lovingly serving her family and friends and most importantly to serving all to the glory of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered until our reunion on that great day of our Lord’s coming. 

     Friends may call Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle St.  A service will be held there Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Coleman of Luther Memorial Church and Michael Anderson, grandson of Mrs. Anderson, co-officiating.  Burial will be at Erie Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Luther Memorial Church, 225 W. 10th St., Erie, PA 16501;   or to Bethany Outreach Center, 254 E. Tenth St., Erie, PA 16503.
