Harvey Pettys

October 18, 1936 — April 26, 2014

Harvey R. “Butch” Pettys, age 77, of Millcreek passed away Saturday April 26, 2014 at his residence following a long illness.

He was born in Erie, PA October 18, 1936, son of the late Harvey A. and Camella Prouten Pettys.

Harvey was employed at Waldameer Park for 47 years. He was a member of Kearsarge Fire Department for 15 years and a member of the Siebenbuerger Club and Walnut Creek Gun Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed NASCAR, camping and RVing.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a son Terry Pettys.

He is survived by his wife Patricia L. Pettys, three daughters; Jackie Quinlan and her husband John, Cheryl Miller, Kim Denning and her husband Will, all of Erie, two sons; Jimmy Pettys and his wife Kim of Fairview, Robert Pettys and his wife Mary of Erie; and a stepson; Phillip Simonian and his wife Laurie of Cape Cod, MA. He is further survived by eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two half-brothers Edward Bettis and his wife Judy and John Bettis of Skeanopolis, NY and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 West 26 Street (at Powell Ave.) on Monday April 28 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm and are invited to the service there on Tuesday at 10:30 am with Rev. Dan Owen officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
