Harvey C. Fohner, age 87, of Millcreek, passed away on Thursday January 21, 2016 at Millcreek Community Hospital. He was born in Erie on April 20, 1928, a son of the late Gerald Lloyd and Margaret Martell Fohner .
Harvey started working full time at the age of 14. He met his future wife Naomi at the age of 15, and loved being a family man. Prior to being an inspector for Fenestra Corp. for many years, he owned his own gas station on W. 8th St. He was the former chief of the Lakeshore Fire Department.
He had many interests and talents including racing stock cars, motorcycles and he could fix anything. But most of all he enjoyed camping with his wife all over the country, making friends everywhere they went.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Naomi, less than a month ago; his brothers: Ray, Gerald W., James, and Jerry Fohner; and an infant sister.
He is survived by two daughters: Nancy (William) Bainbridge and Margi (Robert) Quadri, all of Erie; five grandchildren: William (Michelle) Bainbridge Jr., Daniel Bainbridge, Lisa (Scott) Pendleton, Jennifer Quadri and Laura (Matthew) Kuhn; and three great grandchildren: William Bainbridge III, Jessica Stahlsmith, and Andrea Quirk. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends may call on the family on Sunday January 24th from 12 Noon until the time of the service at 2pm at Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 W. 26th St. (at Powell Ave.). Burial will be in the Shreves Ridge Cemetery in Union City.
