Harry Volk

Harry G. Volk, 77, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 6th, at Saint Vincent Health Center.

He was born in Erie on April 27, 1938, a son of the late Stephen Volk, Sr. and Louise Leone Volk.

Harry graduated from Strong Vincent High School, went on to serve in the United States Army Reserves during the Berlin Crisis, and graduated first in his class from Erie Business College. He worked at the Service Bureau Corporation Subsidiary of IBM, and went on to work in various capacities as a computer programmer and systems analyst. Later in his career, he became Vice President of the Workingman’s Savings Association. He then studied mortgage lending and worked in that field until his retirement. After retiring, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, spending time at Presque Isle State Park, and spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. His family was his greatest joy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Stephen Volk, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Marie Jenks Volk, his daughter Linda Soto, her husband, Rudolph Soto, and their son, Trey Soto, all of Erie, PA, and his daughter Christine Volk and her wife, Samantha Kenney, of Dunkirk, NY.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Saturday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of sharing at 6:00 p.m.
