Harry Honard, Jr.

December 31, 1969 — November 16, 2016

Harry W. Honard, Jr., age 87, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2016. Harry graduated Academy High School in 1946. He worked at General Telephone until serving in the United States Army 82nd Airborne (Fort Bragg) during the Korean War Conflict. He then returned to Erie and worked most of his life as a cable splicer and later as a troubleshooting supervisor for General Telephone Company. He also worked as a security guard for Villa Maria College for several years. He was a lifelong member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, and enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling, woodworking, and being an "armchair referee" while watching his favorite teams. He was also a Lifetime member of the Siebenbuerger Club. He is preceded in death by his parents Harry Sr. and Ethel(Roward), his first wife Patricia (Downs), and his brothers and sisters Annabelle, Elaine, Ethel, Helen, Charles, and Ken. Survivors include his sister Harriet Kraus, wife Judy(Hankey), his children Carol, Jon, Harry, Mary, and their families including eight grandchildren, and many cousins, nephews, nieces, and extended family and friends.  The family will receive friends at the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle Street, Saturday from Noon until 2 p.m.  Private interment in Erie Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be sent in lieu of flowers to Emmaus Soup Kitchen, 345 E. 9th St., Erie, PA 16503; or the Inner City Neighborhood Art House, 201 E. 10th St., Erie, PA 16503.
