Harold Vorse

Harold Leroy Vorse, age 74 of Platea, died Monday, September 2, 2013, at St. Vincent Health Center. Born in Cranesville on August 2, 1939, he was a son of the late Ralph and Mary Bricker Vorse.

Harold graduated from Albion High School and served in the National Guard from 1956 until 1964. He then went to Gannon University, Penn State Behrend and I.C.S. Harold was a manufacturing engineer for 35 years at Lord Manufacturing, Penn-Tech and PHB. He was an avid bowler and he and his wife owned Suburban Bowling Lanes in Girard for 10 years. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Albion and attended Lakewood United Methodist Church in Erie.

In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Stephen Dickinson, and a brother, Ralph Vorse.

Harold is survived by his wife, Janet L. Richardson Vorse, three daughters: Kathy Dickinson of Erie, Sharon Yu and her husband Chris of Shanghai, China, and Betsy Koncerak and her husband Bill of Winchester, Idaho; five grandchildren: Emma, Kevin and Tiffany Dickinson, and Sarah and Rebecca Yu; as well as five sisters: Mary Fitch, Melva Olesnanik and her husband Carl, Eileen Crandal and her husband Jim, Edith Kinney, and Ann Goodreau and her husband Paul; and three brothers: John Vorse and his wife Carol, Chuck Vorse and his wife Nancy and Frank Vorse and his wife Teri; a sister-in-law, Judy Vorse; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East in Girard on Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Grace United Methodist Church, 49 Franklin Street in Albion with Rev. Duk Hee Han and Rev. Robert Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery.
