H. Earl Hill age 94, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Parkside at Westminster surrounded by his family.
He was born in Barnsboro, PA on January 7, 1927 a son of the late Mellie May (Wineberg) Hill and William Charles Hill.
Earl graduated from Barnsboro High School and joined the United States Army in 1944, serving ETO until 1947.
He attended St. Francis and Clemson Universities and received his PhD in organic chemistry from Carnegie Tech. He worked many jobs but retired from Lord Corp. after 10 years of service.
Earl enjoyed computers and kept up to date in current chemistry issues. He wrote a college mathematics textbook which he told people “was a best seller”. He enjoyed his weekly get together with his friends when he was able. He was proficient in Japanese and German.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved dog “Cookie”.
He is survived by his wife Ruth M. Hill of Erie who loved him dearly; son, Robert Hill (Eileen) of Florida; his grandson, Shan Hill of Florida; step-daughter, Susan Hoag (Bud) of Erie; step-son, Kevin Reynold (Rhonda) of Erie; his good friend Jim Fouch (Frances) who was like a son to him of Erie; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially his granddaughters, Lisa and Kelly Hoag who were his caregivers in his last years.
